ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship Team
US Sailing annually supports the U.S. Youth Worlds Team, which represents the United States at the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Youth World Championship. Team members must qualify for the team each year, based on their on-the-water results at pre-determined qualifying event(s). They also become members of the US Sailing Development Team.
The 2015 ISAF Youth Worlds will be held in Langkawi, Malaysia from December 27, 2015-January 3, 2016.
*Amended June 30, 2015 – USA RS:X Qualification Event to the Youth Worlds will be the 2015 CORK International, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, August 9-13, 2015. See selection procedures for more information.
The U.S. Youth Sailing Championships is the 2015 ISAF Youth Worlds Qualifier. The event will be hosted by Roger Williams University July 6-10 at their new, state of the art Richard L. Bready Mount Hope Bay Sailing and Education Center in Bristol, R.I. on Narragansett Bay. Bristol Yacht Club will be providing additional support.
Sailors may be accepted to compete by placing well at Early Acceptance Events and applying online or by submitting a resume and applying online. The remaining Early Acceptance Events on the 2015 calendar are the Laser Midwinters East Regatta, currently underway in Clearwater, Fla., and the U.S. Junior Women’s Doublehanded Championship in Columbia, S.C. on June 28-30.
The online application period closes March 15 (Midnight CT). The following disciplines will be sailed at the event:
- Laser – Open
- Laser Radial – Boys
- Laser Radial – Girls
- I-420 – Boys
- I-420 – Girls
- 29er – Boys
- 29er – Girls
- F-16 – Open
- RS:X 8.5 – Boys
- RS:X 8.5 – Girls
Charters will be available for all fleets and information will be provided to accepted sailors.
